Online therapy
With the advancement of innovation and technology, the need to adapt treatments to the modern world has emerged. A significant advantage of remote treatment is working in the patient’s natural environment, with the accessories available at home, thus enabling a quick and optimal transfer to the home environment even outside of treatment. It is worth noting that online treatment with children is focused on training parents. It allows parents to be more active in treatment, especially with young children, and therefore leads to high recruitment and can contribute to the effectiveness of treatment. In addition, it allows the child to be observed during the treatment in various situations, such as during meals, getting organized, etc.
We usually prefer face-to-face treatment, which allows for intervention, using direct interpersonal elements and the sensory system more effectively, for example, touch, smell. At the same time, online treatment, among other things, allows for the accessibility of the unique treatment to populations that are geographically distant from the institute. Sometimes, due to various reasons, including relocation, or the family moving to another place of residence, as well as a desire to receive treatment from an expert in their field who is geographically located in a remote location, the family will prefer to receive online treatment at the institute. Therefore, at the “Signs of Connection” Institute, we work in online therapy with patients from Israel and abroad, including families who have reached an intensive period of treatment and the treatment continues afterwards in their distant city of residence (Eilat, Beersheba, etc.) or in their countries (Switzerland, India, etc.). In addition, online therapy can reduce treatment costs, as it reduces arrival time, travel costs, a reduction in the number of work hours the parent must miss, and more. It should be noted that studies also show that remote intervention sometimes leads to similar or better results than conventional therapy (under laboratory conditions).
The treatment is usually provided using ZOOM software, an accessible, secure, and simple software. The treatments take place regularly, with a fixed room, time, and day just like in conventional treatment.
If necessary, the parent receives instructions from the therapist before the start of treatment regarding what to bring to the room where the treatment is being conducted.

Trainings, meetings, and a seminar for dozens of external therapists regarding online therapy were moved in March 2020 due to the coronavirus.
